The Truth About Hypnosis

What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis has been rooted in mystery and superstition.  It is neither.  It goes as far back as the Egyptians.  Hypnosis is a state of awareness and intense focus on one thing.  It is the communication process in a person’s mind that allows his/her conscious and subconscious mind to receive the same message.
Hypnosis is a process of giving the subconscious mind directions to change behavior.  It removes the conscious mind from over thinking about the changes you want to make.   Even though we sometimes call hypnosis "sleep", the brain is not actually sleeping.  There is a change in brain waves and these brain waves are different than the brain waves of sleep.

What is hypnosis like?
During hypnosis you will have wonderful feelings of calmness, tranquility, and profound relaxation.  Hypnosis is an enjoyable and natural state of mind, similar to daydreaming, in which you become very receptive to acceptable and proper suggestions.
You will not have amnesia because you will remember everything that you need to reach your goal.  Some people who experience hypnosis do not feel like they have been hypnotized.  This is common.  Hypnosis is a very familiar experience.  During the course of daily living, the mind is constantly going in and out of hypnosis.

Who can be hypnotized?
Anyone of average intelligence can be hypnotized as long as they are willing.

Can I be hypnotized against my will?
You cannot be hypnotized against your will.  Let me say that again....You cannot be hypnotized against your will.  I have had experiences with clients who say they want hypnosis but really don't and then do not allow themselves to relax and engage in the hypnotic experience because they simply are not ready.  If you do not want to experience hypnosis, you simply won’t.  You are the one to decide this because you are always in control.
Also, you have the power to reject any suggestions you do not agree with.  This is why I frequently ask clients about their motivation to make changes in their lives.  If you really do not want to make the changes, I cannot force them on you.  Stage show hypnotists can get people to do interesting things like dance or sing because the people participating are VOLUNTEERS and are open and willing to do almost anything!

Can I get stuck in Hypnosis?
You will always remain in control and be able to awaken yourself at any time.  You cannot remain in hypnosis.  If you are left alone, you will come out of hypnosis on your own in a few minutes.

Having a positive attitude, knowing change is taking place will produce results!
